Pacifier Advice...

We are trying to help Eliza get rid of her paci's however, it is difficult when little brother Porter's is just as tasty as hers is. Our new pediatrician says to loose the paci as soon as possible (especially with girls or it could ruin their smile). Any advice is welcome!
PS: this cute pacifier attatchment was made by her, we love it!

WCP:
Don't worry, no children were hurt in the taking of this picture!
Eliza knows she can't sit on Porter, but she has found ways to still have him be her pretend pony.
Sorry, the next post was a struggle!

Cute pictures! I love those jammies!
My advice on the pacifier issue, just take them away. (I'm just guessing she only uses them at night time?) You will probably have a couple rough nights, but then it will be over. (Good luck!)

Your kids are so darn cute!!

My advice - COLD TURKEY. It sounds mean and you will have a few rough days but it's the best way. Jacob didn't take a paci, Kayla cried for about two days and Kelsie maybe 24 hrs. It wasn't that painful. The sooner the better

With Seth and Kels, both of whom LOVED their pacis, we dreaded taking them away.

But one day, around 18 months, Seth bit and pulled his, making a little hole. We seized our opportunity and only gave him that one from then on. Every couple of days we'd make the hole a little bigger with some scissors until eventually is was just a stub. One day at naptime I handed Seth his stubbed paci, he looked at it, and handed it right back.

Kelsey slept with hers in her hand for a few extra days, but then didn't really care if it was in her crib or not.

Your biggest problem might be that she has little bros so handy.

Good luck. Our experience was pretty painless....

I agree with the cold turkey. Maliyah was a paci lover until oh gosh she was 2 1/2 and it was only night time, but we needed to do it. Ky had a blanket he was attached to so giving up the binki was easy. So with maliyah we talked about going on a special trip to the store to get a special blakie just like Ky. It was least worked to keep her content and undestanding that we were getting rid of it. She did really well. Jade is now nearly a year, we stopped the binki at 6 months other than bed time, and in two weeks I'm thinking to try to give it up....so we can go through it together! But really you have to deal for a little while with a cranky kid....but we all survive! love ya
OH! And I'm glad you like the binki chain! That's nice of you to add the link. Janine and I do have a craft blog now if you want to see it

I agree cold turkey works! We tried the cutting the binki thing, and both Maggie and Benjamin were downright mad, so it automatically became cold turkey anyway. With that said, all my kids only ever got binkis when they were doing naps or nighttime even when they were a few months old (as soon as they woke up, they got to throw their binki in their crib and leave it there until the next bedtime). That helps with the little sibling thing too! I still caught Maggie taking a drag on Benjamin's every once in awhile! Good luck! How did the potty training go?

that has got to be so hard, because porter will still need it, so obviously eliza will find his just as comforting. i wish i had some advice for you, but...
i guess the only thing i would say is to put porter's by his crib and try to use it only when he's sleeping, or really needs it, but... i know that's a lot easier said than done, but whatever you can do to keep it out of eliza's sight. i know with my kids it is usually "out of sight, out of mind" good luck. let us know if you find something that works.

Thanks for all the helpful comments! We cut off her paci and she hated it,(she threw it on the ground and said "Uh oh, what happened, is broken?") so she went through the night and her nap right now without it and has done pretty good! I think I will start putting Porter's in his crib from now on!

Well I was going to suggest the cutting as well, but looks like you've got it covered!

Sorry I don't really have any advice regarding the pacifiers! But I did want to tell you that your children are sooo adorable! I love your "WCP's" they make me laugh.

start her oncock she will soon forget her paci, mine both sucked it from a few months old and the oldest one right up until she married, just wish her mum could suck as good as she did
